Cat Tales

We were feeling alone in the house. Biscuit had been gone for almost two months. So, we decided to go to the humane shelter and rescue a couple of little kitties.
When you go in, you are given a pencil and paper to write down the number of the kitty that you want to visit with. We went through the different sections and wrote down three numbers. The shelter volunteer takes you to a room where each kitty is brought to you individually.
The little black kitty that we had listed had already been adopted so the volunteer brought the brother of that one for us to see. Thumper had a little sister, but she'd already been taken. Peanut had the biggest prettiest eyes we'd ever seen. We could not decide between the three so my husband said "let's just take all three of them". So we did and that is how we got our three amigos.

Thumper

Thumper was the first one that we brought home. He is a pale tan color with white paws and the sweetest disposition. He acted like the rabbit in the movie Bambi so that is how he got his name. He was born on April 28, 2001.
He loves to eat eggs and potato chips. Turn your back and you will find his head buried in the chip bag. His favorite toys are little bouncy balls. He will chase them all over the house, just like he is playing soccer. Sometimes he wakes us in the middle of the night with the sound of the ball hitting the wall.
He loves to be held and Stephen calls him a little teddy bear. Thumper will rub his face against ours and sometimes will even give us a little nip on the nose. He is quite vocal at times, especially when he thinks it is time to be fed.

Hershey

Hershey came home the day after Thumper. He is black with a little chocolate, thus his name. He was born on March 15, 2001.
He is quite a character. His tail is always curved over his back pointing towards his head. He loves to have his tummy rubbed. He used to stick his tongue out of his mouth just a little and leave it there. His purr is so loud that it sounds like the roar of a jet engine. He loves to lay on the paper while we are trying to read it. He loves to look out the window at the lake where all the birds are. He will make this little cat chirp as he watches the birds. He will occasionally lay on my pillow at night and lick my face. He never eats any people food. Always tries to bury it.
He is the fraidy cat of the three. Spooks very easy. One time Thumper got a paper bag caught on him and he was racing through the house trying to get it off. Poor Hershey was scared for hours after that. Slinking around very slowly as if he expected to see the bag jump out at him. All three were spooked. We had three puffballs for a while.

Peanut

Peanut was the last to arrive home and the only girl. Her birthday is April 25, 2001. She was flown from Puerto Rico to here to be adopted.
She was the hardest to get to know. Now she sleeps by my head and purrs alot. She loves to chase her toy mice. She will wait for us to throw the mouse, then she will run to get it and bring it back to us. She looks so cute with the little mouse hanging out of her mouth. She also likes to lay on the top of their kitty condo looking out at the lake. She loves to eat potato chips.Watch out for her and Thump if you have a glass of milk. They both love milk.
She was diagnosed with asthma about 6 months after we got her. She spent a few days in the kitty hospital on oxygen and getting emergency medications. Luckily, her attacks since have been mild.
She is the smallest of the three, weighing almost seven pounds. So Peanut as her name fits perfectly.
